Rhiannon Richardson
My passions are middle grade and young adult genre fiction. I read and write both age groups and have a strong grasp on their defining elements and tropes. I also like to research current trends to keep both my material and my to-be-read list up to date. I have additional experience editing picture book and memoir.
One of the reasons I love editorial work is because I’m passionate about the power of words. There’s something thrilling about going line to line, helping a writer hone their voice. Even more rewarding is piecing together a compelling, meaningful, and marketable plot. My goal as your editor is to help your writing fully achieve the story you’re trying to tell. I’ll meet you where you are in the process. Sometimes, that means starting with the outline so that you know you have a solid story with an engaging plot figured out before the writing begins. Or, if you’re the go for it type, we can work our way through your manuscript together so that you’ll have a polished completed draft.
Something I’ve learned as an author is that it’s impossible to see the holes in your own work. This can be because you’ve spent so many hours combing through the details that your eyes are glazed over, or it’s because this is your project and you love the effort you’ve put into it and don’t want to see anything wrong. That’s where I come in! Let me look for you.
I am an agented author of young adult and middle grade contemporary fiction. My bachelor’s degree is in English Literature and Creative Writing. I more-than-enthusiastically left my corporate job and joined Mary Kole and the Good Story Company in 2020 to fully devote myself to writing and editing.
But, when I’m not doing either of those wonderful things, you can find me café hopping for the best vanilla cappuccino or spending quality time with my two guinea pigs and my dog, Ernesto.
